Peace Dollar Values
Every Peace Dollar by year and mint mark, from common 1922s to the key 1928 Philadelphia issue.
The Peace Dollar was minted from 1921 to 1935 and briefly in 2021 as a centennial issue. It features Lady Liberty on the obverse and a bald eagle on the reverse with the word "PEACE." Every original Peace Dollar contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver (90% silver, 10% copper, total weight 26.73 grams).
Peace Dollars are generally more affordable than Morgan Dollars, making them popular with new collectors and common finds in inherited collections.
1922 Silver Dollar Value
The 1922 Peace Dollar is the most common date in the series. Over 51 million were struck at Philadelphia alone. Here is what yours is worth:
- 1922 (Philadelphia, no mint mark): $25 to $35 circulated. $35 to $60 uncirculated.
- 1922-D (Denver): $25 to $35 circulated. $35 to $75 uncirculated.
- 1922-S (San Francisco): $25 to $35 circulated. $35 to $75 uncirculated.
A 1922 Peace Dollar is always worth at least its silver melt value (approximately $24 at current prices).
Peace Dollar Values by Date
The 1928 Peace Dollar: The Key Date
Only 360,649 were struck at Philadelphia, making it scarce in any grade. Circulated examples sell for $200 to $400. In Mint State, prices start around $400 and climb past $1,000 for well-struck examples with good luster.
The 1921 High Relief Peace Dollar
The first year of issue features a higher relief than later years. Designer Anthony de Francisci's original high-relief design was changed to lower relief in 1922 due to striking problems. 1921 Peace Dollars sell for $60 to $150 circulated, $150 to $400+ uncirculated.
Fake 1922 Silver Dollars
Counterfeit Peace Dollars exist, particularly for 1922. Chinese-made fakes are most common. Check weight (genuine: 26.73 g), edge reeding (189 reeds), and compare details to authenticated images. A dealer can verify authenticity in seconds.
