Chilean Gold Peso Values
The 100 Peso holds over half a troy ounce of gold. Three denominations, all at 90% purity.
Chile produced gold coins in multiple denominations through much of the 20th century. The 100 Peso is the largest, containing over half a troy ounce of gold. These coins are less common in American collections than Mexican or European gold.
Gold Content and Melt Values
Chile also produced an earlier 20 Peso (1906–1917) at 91.7% purity containing 0.3532 oz of gold, worth roughly $1,775. This earlier coin contains significantly more gold than the later 20 Peso.
Chilean gold pesos trade near melt value for most dates. The 100 Peso at over half an ounce of gold is the most appealing for sellers, with a melt value approaching $3,000.
